This evening we went to the Spirit event in Dewsbury town centre, Pretty good night it was too, The dragons interacted with the crowd by breathing on them and chasing them down the street, Very funny, I was taking loads of photographs and at one point thought I've got a good one here when all of a sudden the dragons head turned round and breathed into my face at point blank range, Came as a bit of a surprise but I was in fits of laughter afterwards. It was a good night and a good turn out too. I have put up some photos of the event, If you click the image left it will take you to the Spirit page.
Missed this shot due to the limitations of my camera, the shutter lag must be at least a second. It's very frustrating. Oliver is nine months old today and he said Daddy for the first time, Well giddy I am.
When I read this article on the Dewsbury Reporter web site I thought this is just what is needed and was looking forward to seeing the pathways and waterways improved. Well on my walk with the dog today I noticed that a lot of trees had been cut down and a new ugly fence had been put up, as I was walking along the towpath I began thinking this can't be what they are spending the money on! surely they would spend it on improving the pathways, putting in some seating and cleaning the rubbish out of the canal. But this is how Kirklees works they chop as many trees down as they can and leave all the rubbish behind, Good work. Just a quickie, Here is a photo of Oliver I manipulated in Photoshop. A larger version can be found in the photography pages here. Just sneak a couple of minutes to type this out.
Last november my brother asked me if I'd like to go see Public Image Ltd live in Leeds in December, It didn't take me long to reply with a resounding YES, I've seen the Sex Pistols and never had the chance to go see PIL live so I was excited about this, Then came the bomb shell, tickets are £38!!! It didn't take me long to reply with a resounding NO CHANCE, as much as I like Public Image, as much as I'd loved to see them live there is no way I'm paying £38 for a gig thats going to last about 90 minutes. A week before the the gig my brother text me asking if I would like to go see them as there are still tickets available and he would pay for me and Louise to go, I said thanks but no I'm not going out of principle, It's £76 before we even leave the house then there is the beer money, train and taxi fare home oh and don't forget the hiked up prices on the t-Shirts, how much are they these days £30-£35? you would have been talking £160+ for about 3 hours. Now Gary Numan was playing the same venu in December and his tickets were £17, I would have gone to see PIL if they were price at that. That's another whine for another day the cost of t-shirts at gigs...but I'll save that for another post. Well it's been a while now since I posted anything, I've had a few things that I wanted to post about but just couldn't find the time to do it, Even now I'm grabbing five minutes to post this.
A couple of the things I wanted to post about was the cost of gig tickets and the shooting of a swan that we have been feeding over the last two years. There thats it for the moment, Back to it... |
