So today when I got home from work I started to cut the centre pieces off that would make the doorway and the spare 2.4 mtr length I had I cut in half and used that to make 2 smaller raised beds. Now this is how it looks. Next I will get some 2 x 1” wood and make a framework around the beds and to this I will attach the fine mesh, I will also be adding a door.
After I finished what I did yesterday on the raised bed I was stood looking at it and thought it might be a better idea to make a greenhouse instead.
Last week I got hold of a 2.4 mtr pallet I took the feet off it and cut it into 3 lengths each length had 3 slats in it, I had the idea of making a raised bed to replace the triangular ones we had last year. Pictured left. With the weather being good this Sunday I decided to make a start, I started by taking apart the triangular beds. I sawed one of the pallet lengths in half at 1.2 mtrs I then nailed a 2.4 mtr length to the short pieces. It didn’t take long and as I don’t have all the bits to finish it off this was as far as I could get, My plan is to have some wooden poles in each corner that we can attach some frames that are covered in mesh to stop the slugs eating everything like they did last year. A few Guinea fowl have turned up near where my brother lives, I went down on Saturday to have a look, They are quite comical to watch and spend a bit of time walking back and forth, I managed to get pretty close to get some photos. On our walk today I took this photo of a duck, I quite like it. Took Horace for his walk on the Greenway as we normally do on a morning. The path splits in two and one carries on along the canal side and the other path that is the main part of the Greenway, we took this path and as soon as we got up the slight hill I said to Louise “where is the tree?” We got closer and saw that the tree had been cut down, now I’m not talking about a big tree but it was a tree and a healthy one at that, only a couple of weeks ago I took some photos of the freshly sprouting buds it had on it and thought it would be a good idea to photograph these regular and see them change, Well that’s not going to happen now they have cut the tree down. What I can’t get my head around is why did they cut it down? it was healthy, it wasn’t a danger or in the way by any means, I just get the feeling Kirklees council just don’t give a dam, why didn’t they spend the time cleaning up the Greenway instead of chopping down healthy trees along the Greenway, Oh yes it wasn’t just one tree there where about 5 or 6 just along the short stretch we walked along, also along this stretch was a load of rubbish they could have cleared that away instead, that would have been greener than cutting healthy trees down. The whole point of the Greenway is to get from one place to another by walking, cycling, jogging or even on dry skis, and enjoy the greenery along the way, So surely it makes more sense to clean up rubbish than it is to cut down healthy trees. The picture here on the left is one of the trees pictured in our recent snowy weather the picture on the right are the new buds just coming through. The tree stump and on the right the fresh buds left behind. And just past the bridge that you can see in the background, The rubbish.... Beautiful, beats having a healthy tree any day.
Just been trying out After Effects on a friends computer, With this I wanted to create a dvd intro movie for a school dvd.
I did the artwork in Illustrator first using some free vector art I found on the net, I then exported the image as a Photoshop image and imported it into After Effects, This is my first go at doing my own project from scratch, Before this I had been watching loads of tutorials on the net. |
