First day of my holiday and it's been a scorcher, so we decided to head off to Fairburn Ings, What a great day we've had and Oliver walked around Fairbun for the first time today, Louise spent about an hour waiting to photograph the Kingfishers but the camera had the small lens on so she did what she could with the small lens, In the meantime me and Oliver went for a walk along the nature trail, I was showing him spiders and other little beasties, he was quite interested. We saw a dead ladybird and Oliver was tutting at it and pointing we think he knew it wasn't well. He had a great time exploring the grounds. Louise had a great time brushing up on her camera skills and I had a great time showing Oliver all the wonderful things nature has to offer.
We have been to Tropical Butterfly House Twice this week, It is a really nice place to visit, They have a nice selection of animals & birds some of which are roaming free around the centre, When we go we get there early and make a day of it, The bird displays a great to watch and you get up close to the birds too, They have just got some Prairie Dogs in this week. The butterfly House has a few different types of butterflies, birds, terrapins, fish, ants, bats, snakes, a crocodile, spiders, snakes and a few more things that we haven't come across yet, you also get the chance to hold some of them. It's a great day out and the café serves nice food too. you can follow them on Twitter @TropButterfly or visit there website for more info. http://www.butterflyhouse.co.uk
I've updated most of my photography pages to the new slide show. Doing this will have broken any links to the old pages on some of my older posts, I may correct this at some point in my life, then again I may not.
Well Weebly have added a new Slide Show widget for us so I will be converting all my photography pages to the slide show widget, This means that my Photography section will be a bit all over the place as I move over to the new Slide Show pages.
I've signed the letter to the Future to help stop the cuts to nature that the government are planning on bringing in in the next few months, So if you care about your nature then please click on the yes badge you see up there in the top right and you will be directed to the RSPB websites Letter for the Future page, sign it if you will it only takes a couple of minutes and you could help save the nature by doing so.
Thank you. A strange thing happened tonight with my iPhone 4, I plugged my iPhone into my computer via the usb lead and imported some photos that I had taken that day, then left the pone in to charge up, when I came back to it a couple of hours later I found the screen was showing the the words Dragon fly" and a Dismiss button on the screen, I have no idea what it means or what has caused it, If anyone else has had this happen and you know why then let me know. Well Apple have pulled the Camera+ app from the App Store because it had an option to enable the volume buttons as a shutter release, Apple's official stance on this is that you can't do this because it might cause confusion to the user. How thick does apple think it's users are? and anyway how many functions does the home button have on an iPhone? Here is a LIST: 1. Wakes the phone from sleep 2. Closes Apps 3. Moves back to the home screen 4. Opens Spotlight from the home screen 5. Brings up the last used apps list (iOS4) 6. Displays the iPod controls when the phone is locked 7. Activates the Voice Control That's just the ones I know about. So this reason they have is just pointless, let the app developers do it and make the software work the way we want. So if you have version 1.2.1 of Camera+ you can enable the Volume Shutter by going to this address in Safari on your iPhone camplus://enablevolumesnap and if you get confused by using the volume buttons as a shutter button you can disable it by going to this address camplus://disablevolumesnap I've done it and it works a treat. Steve Jobs you know that guy on the big screen in the Macintosh 1984 add? That's you that is!! I have finally got an iPhone 4 and have been downloading some photo apps to go with it, The one I like best is the Hipstamatic camera that produces some really cool retro looking photo effects. It looks like I will have to set up a new page just for this app. It's this way dad. Had a great day at the Maize Maze in Cawthorne, didn't take long to get lost, We set out with the intention not to use the map but after an hour and half we decided the map was probably a good idea. On your way round you have to collect answers to a simple quiz and fill in your sheet for the chance to win a day where you go and watch the calves been fed and the cows been milked. We forgot to hand our sheet in so no luck there. Oliver enjoyed it in the maze and helped with the map reading, It took us two hours to get out of the maze and once out there are some good ol fashioned games to play and a tractor ride to the farm and back. This farm makes it's own ice cream we bought a large tub of it to take home. Overall a very enjoyable day out. Took Oliver for his first ride in a train today so we took him to the Kirklees Light Railway, It's a nice place with a tiny train that goes around the duck pond twice, bouncy castles and play areas for the kids, nice tea rooms too.
The main attraction is the narrow gauge steam trains that take you along a 3 3/4 mile trip from Clayton West to Shelly, It's a good Ol rickety ride through the country side, and the kids really enjoy it. You can fine the website here.. Kirkleeslightrailway.com |
