I was told that our baby had been taken to hospital, Not for anything serious but just as a precaution. I got on a bicycle and started to ride up the road, I came to a junction but I didn’t have time to brake so I shot across the road into the path of an oncoming car, I applied the brakes and came skidding to a halt side on at the side of the curb, the driver went past shouting abuse at me, I put up my hand as an apologetic gesture as the car went off into the distance. I set off again and cycled into the estate, it was a long road and a place I recognise, when I got to the end of the estate there was a small community shopping area, I had to go through the supermarket to get to the other side, so I cycled through the sliding doors and up some stairs, I cycled down a long aisle and out of the doors at the other end of the supermarket, On the left was a bowling alley and on my right a queue of people.
I carried on cycling and came to a cul-de-sac, the house in front of me I had to go through to get to the hospital, the house wasn’t lived in so I opened the door and walked in with my bike I propped my bike up against a wall, there was a young couple in the house that where looking round with a torch, I said that the estate agent said I could pass through, they said “ok”.
The entrance hall was huge and went all the way to the back of the house. On my left was a room that was all furnished with a late 70’s style stone fireplace, there was another room next to this one which was used as the dining room and after that was the kitchen, on the right of the entrance hall was an alcove which was used a a storage area, next to this was another alcove that was used for a kids play room and past that was the stairs leading to the bedrooms, I never went up there.
The young couple left the house out of the back door I followed shortly after, I then realised I had forgotten my bike, I turned to the young couple and asked if they had locked the door, they said “yes but you can still get in”, “ok” I said and pulled the door from the bottom and it swung up, I went back inside the house and went to my bike, by this time some things had been rested against it, I got my bike out and noticed it had no wheels, anyway there where some other lads there that where putting wheels on there bikes, I asked one if I could have the wheel that he was putting a new tyre on he said “yes” so I helped him with the tyre I asked if he had an inner tube, “yes” he said and we put that in but it was too big, but we squashed it in anyway, He stood up and said “has anyone got a pump”, I said “I have this heat gun will that do?”, he said “great has it got an attachment?”, “I don’t know” I said, He took a look “here it is” he said “this will do”, he fastened it to the inner tube inlet and pressed the button on the heat gun but a load of white paint came out of it instead of air, we looked at each other and then at the white paint and said “well that’s no good”
